Preventative Care

Our practice focuses strongly on preventive dental care. It is often said “The best dentistry is no dentistry”, and Dr. Hutchinson strongly believes this. Preventative care involves regular check ups, cleanings, fluoride application, and pit and fissure sealants.

Exams – We begin our exam by asking you about any concerns you may be having. Dr. Hutchinson then will perform a thorough exam to identify any problems you may be having with your dental health. He will be checking for signs of oral cancer, inflammation of your gums, problematic teeth, and any other issues that may concern you. Regular dental exams are most important.

Cleanings – Our cleanings are performed with care and a gentle touch. During your cleanings, your hygienist will remove any plaque and tartar build up while checking for any issues with your oral health. Your comfort and prevention of dental problems are our number one priority through out your entire visit with us.

Fluoride – We offer and recommend fluoride treatment during all dental check ups. Fluoride application prevents cavities, while improving the strength of your teeth, and temperature sensitivity you may be having.

Sealants – A thin layer of filling material placed in the deep grooves of teeth where toothbrush bristles are too large to clean. Typically done when permanent molars first come in these seal off the deep grooves and depressions in teeth forming a protective layer over the enamel. Sealants are particularly effective in children and young adults when teeth have recently erupted into the mouth before decay has a chance to invade the teeth.
